Online Gynae-cological Consultancy Session

Shiksha Alok Learning Centre, Nathuakhan, Nainital

Our first learning centre was launched on Sep 6th, 2013 in Nathuakhan Village, Nainital District of Uttarakhand, India. Here our pilot program 'Basic Computer Skills Program' was launched with an overwhelming registeration response from 250 plus women & children within first 3 days of our opening. Our first 3 months program for 74 beneficiaries started on Sep 12th & was taught in hindi to 6 groups. The first batch graduated in Dec 2013 affording a learning experience for both the students and the trainer - Shalini Srivastava. The teaching methodology used was largely experiential than instructional. The training schedules were customized; considering the lack of exposure of the students to IT.

Shiksha Alok has been regularly recieving requests from nearby villages to open centre's & to handle such demand we are on an ever expanding mode of our resource i.e. trainers, training Courses & Computer hardware.

Shiksha Alok Library Program

Shiksha Alok launched its first Library at Nathuakhan Learning Centre on Nov 11, 2013. We plan to build and equip our Learning Centre Libraries with books, games and craft material. In future we aim to have a trained librarian at our centres for conducting sessions in story-telling, arts and crafts etc for children. This will also be integrated with our basic computer skills program group project research and study. We have also launched Mobile libraries in neighbouring village high schools. The response has been very encouraging.

Our goals in establishing these libraries are

  • To infuse and promote the reading habit
  • To enhance reading and language skills
  • To help improve concentration and learning capacities
  • To provide with study resource

Shiksha Alok Women & Child Health Program

Shiksha Alok launched its Women & Child Health Program in November 2014. The aim of this initiative is to bring specialized Gynaecological & Paediatrician support to women & mothers of remote localities in face to face consultancy through digital technology.  This is achieved through applications like skype as of now. These sessions have been successful in providing clarifications to women with gynaecological issues or pre/post natal queries.
